PhD Course: Taxonomy, identification and ecology of European ants

The course is primarily aimed at Ph.D. students who wish to obtain an overview of the diversity of European ants, and some practical experience with their collection and identification. The course is limited to 20 participants, and priority will be given to Ph.D. students from the University of Copenhagen, followed by Ph.D. students and M.Sc. students from other institutions. There are still a few places left - the deadline for registration has been extended until 15 July 2012.

The 2nd Central European Myrmecology Workshop will be held in Szeged, Hungary in the building by the Local Section of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, co-organized by the University of Szeged and the HAS. The workshop is open to all fields of myrmecology: population and community ecology, sociobiology, ethology, colony organization, colony optimization, within- and between population interactions and interactions with other organisms. We also expect papers on the taxonomy, the fauna and the biogeography of European ants. Although the meeting is held in Central European, as the title says, myrmecologists working in other regions are also most welcome.
